Hawkeye Alums Mallett, Douglas to Run at World Championships

BELGRADE, Serbia – University of Iowa track and field alumni Aaron Mallett (USA) and Chris Douglas (AUS) will both compete at the 2022 World Athletics Indoor Championships for their respective countries in the 60-meter hurdles on Saturday (4:45 a.m. CT).

Mallett, an eight-time All-American and six-time Big Ten Champion in his time at Iowa, finished third at the USATF Indoor Championships in February (7.54) – tying his career-best – to qualify for the United States World Indoor Team.

Douglas, a Big Ten Champion and four-time All-American while competing for the Hawkeyes, earned his spot on the Australian World Team by running a world-standard mark (7.61) in Iowa City, Iowa, at the Larry Wieczorek Invite in January.

Both former Hawkeyes will compete in the 60-meter hurdle first-round preliminaries at 4:45 a.m. (CT) in Belgrade, Serbia. If they move on, the semifinal round will take place at 12:40 p.m. (CT) on Saturday, with the finals to follow at 3:20 p.m. (CT). Fans can stream the action live online –  info can be found here.
