Guerin, Henderson Earn WCGA All-America Honors

IOWA CITY, Iowa – Two University of Iowa women’s gymnasts – senior Lauren Guerin and junior JerQuavia Henderson – were named Women’s Collegiate Gymnastics Association second-team All-Americans on floor, it was announced Thursday by the WCGA.

It is the second straight year the Hawkeyes have had multiple All-America honorees. They are the 11th and 12th All-Americans in program history.

Guerin becomes the second Hawkeye in the record books to earn three All-America distinctions, joining Alexis Maday (2002-04). The Austin, Texas, native was a second-team honoree in 2020 and a first-team selection last season.

Henderson is the third Hawkeye to earn multiple All-America distinctions. She was a second-team selection last season.

Student-athletes with the top eight National Qualifying Scores (NQS) for the regular season (with ties), for each event plus the all-around earned All-America honors. Second-team All-America distinction was earned by student-athletes ranked Nos. 9-16 (with ties) in the NQS.

Guerin earned second-team honors after having a 9.950 NQS on floor for a second straight season. In 12 meets this season, Guerin has scored 9.900 or better 11 times, including posting two 9.975s (to tie a school record) and three 9.950s, including one last week at the Big Ten Championships, which led to her sharing her second straight league floor title.

Henderson’s second-team honors came after posting a 9.945 NQS on floor. The Peoria, Illinois, native has scored 9.900 or higher in all 11 of her competitions this season. She tied the school record, posting two 9.975s during the regular season and finished with a 9.925 at the Big Ten Championships to tie for fourth overall.

The Hawkeyes will compete in the NCAA Raleigh Regional on March 31 in Raleigh, North Carolina. Iowa will compete against No. 6 LSU, No. 11 Missouri and NC State at Valvano Arena at Reynolds Coliseum. The top two teams in the session will advance to the regional final on April 2.
