Volleyball Adds Niagara Transfer Amanda Darling

IOWA CITY, Iowa – Niagara transfer Amanda Darling has accepted a written offer of admission to join the University of Iowa volleyball team in the fall of 2022, it was announced Tuesday by head coach Jim Barnes.

Darling, a 5-3 libero, spent the last two years with the Purple Eagles before entering the transfer portal.

The Oswego, Illinois, native saw action in 93 sets last season. She recorded 516 digs, tallied 127 assists, and had 15 service aces. Darling averaged 5.55 digs per set, which led the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference and ranked fifth in the NCAA. Darling has 670 career digs and 170 assists over 115 sets.

Darling was named the MAAC Rookie of the Year and the MAAC Libero of the Year as a freshman. She earned All-MAAC Second Team honors and again was recognized as the MAAC Libero of the Year as a sophomore.

The Oswego High School prep was a three-time all-conference honoree and holds the school record for most digs in a match with 27. Darling played club volleyball for the Cyclones Volleyball Club and competed at the A2 level for USA Volleyball.
