IOWA CITY, Iowa – The University of Iowa soccer team returns to the pitch on Friday for its final exhibition of the season against Drake. The match kicks off at 7 p.m. (CT) at the Iowa Soccer Complex, and spectators are encouraged to attend.
The Hawkeyes got back in action last Sunday with a home exhibition against Northern Illinois. Fans were treated to an unconventional three periods of play, similar to the exhibition format that will be utilized for Friday’s contest.
Iowa returns six starters and several other contributors from the 2021 squad that posted a 12-6-2 record and a 5-4-1 mark in conference play. The Bulldogs finished 8-7-5 last year.
Iowa opens the regular season on Aug. 18 at No. 13 UCLA in Westwood, California. The road trip continues at Cal Poly on Aug. 21 before the home slate kicks off on Aug. 25 against Kansas.
