IOWA CITY, Iowa – The P. Sue Beckwith, MD, Head Women’s Basketball Coach, Lisa Bluder was named to the 2023 Werner Ladder Naismith Women’s Coach of the Year Late Season Watch List on Wednesday.
Bluder has guided the program to its seventh consecutive season with 20 or more victories in her 23rd year as the head coach at the University of Iowa. This season, the Hawkeyes earned the highest AP Preseason Poll ranking in school history since 1994 and she became the all-time winningest coach in Big Ten regular season conference wins.
As the all-time winningest coach in program history, the Hawkeyes have advanced to 20 postseason appearances (16 NCAA and four WNIT) in 22 seasons, including NCAA Tournament berths in 12 of the last 14 seasons. Iowa advanced to the postseason in 14 consecutive seasons (12 NCAA and two WNIT) when a postseason tournament was held. The 2020 pandemic cut the 2019-20 season short, resulting in the sole missed tournament season.
Bluder and the No. 7 Hawkeyes are set to host the Wisconsin Badgers on Wednesday night. Tipoff for the contest is set for 6:31 p.m. (CT) inside Carver-Hawkeye Arena on Mediacom Court. The game will broadcast on BTN+ (subscription required) and on the Hawkeye Radio Network.
Tickets for Wednesday’s game are still available. Fans are encouraged to wear gold.
