ANN ARBOR, Mich. – University of Iowa women’s swimming and diving wrapped up competition at the 2023 Big Ten Championships inside the Donald B. Canham Natatorium on Saturday.
The Hawkeyes finished 12th overall with a total team score of 198.
Senior Kennedy Gilbertson placed 18th in the 200 back preliminary rounds with a season best 1:57.70 to advance to the afternoon’s final round, where she finished 23rd (1:58.70).
Junior Maddie Black and freshman Olivia Asay also swam season bests during the preliminaries. Black swam her year-best 53.29 in the 100 free, and Asay came away with a career-fastest 2:07.90 in the 200 fly.
Three Hawkeyes competed in the 1650 free. Sophomore Alix O’Brien finished 22nd in 17:01.98, while freshmen Sila Ozkazanc and Meredith O’Malley placed 26th and 28th, respectively.
Iowa travels to West Lafayette, Indiana, for a chance to improve current B-cut times in an event hosted by Big Ten opponent Purdue on Feb. 25-26.
