JOHNS ISLAND, S.C. – University of Iowa sophomore Paula Miranda sits in a tie for 15th place through 36 holes at the Briar’s Creek Invitational, which is being held at the Golf Club at Briar’s Creek.
Miranda shot a 36-hole total of 143 – one under – after finishing with rounds of 71-72 on Monday. Illinois’ Crystal Wang is the individual leader, sitting at -8.
Miranda put together two rounds at or below par – Nos. 4-5 this season — finishing with a one-under 71 in her opening round before posting an even par 72 in round two. The Mexico native had a stretch of four birdies in a five-hole stretch during her first 18 holes and she had seven birdies on the day.
Vogler is tied for 22nd with a one-over par 145. She finished with a 73 during her first round before carding an even par 72 in round two.
The Hawkeyes are in 10th place in the team standings with an 11-over par 587 (295-292). No. 20 Central Florida is atop the leaderboard with a 16-under par 560.
