JOHNS ISLAND, S.C. – Sophomore Paula Miranda tallied her first top 10 finish of the season to lead the University of Iowa women’s golf team at the Briar’s Creek Invitational.
Miranda shot a final round 73 to close out the 54-hole tournament with an even-par 216 (71-72-73). The Mexico native had nine birdies during the week en route to her best finish of the season. It is Miranda’s second career top 10 finish.
Freshman Shannyn Vogler closed out the week with a two-over par 74 on Tuesday. She tied for 23rd place with a three-over par 219 (73-72-74), tied for the second-best 54-hole total of her career. Vogler had seven birdies – four of which came during her second round even par.
The Hawkeyes finished in 10th place in the team standings with a 891 (295-292-304). SMU was the team champion with a 13-under par 851, while SMU’s Michelle Zhang and NC State’s Lauren Olivares were co-medalists with six-under par 210s.
