Iowa Finishes in 3rd At Norman Regional

NORMAN, Oklahoma – The No. 25th ranked University of Iowa women’s gymnastics team finished third after scoring a 196.500 on Thursday afternoon in the second round of the NCAA championships at the Norman regional at the Lloyd Nobel Center on the campus of the University of Oklahoma.

The Hawkeyes finished behind Kentucky (197.475) and Alabama (197.375) but ahead of Illinois (195.675).

Vault

Iowa had three gymnasts score a 9.800 or higher on vault to finish with a team score of 49.075 in its first event. Karina Muñoz and Jerquavia Henderson both recorded a score of 9.875 to tie for third place. Hanna Castillo placed 11th with a score of 9.800 and Allison Zuhlke posted a 9.775. Avery Chambers recorded a 9.750, while Gianna Masella posted an 8.825.

Bars
The GymHawks finished with a 49.000 with three gymnasts scoring 9.800 or above. Henderson and Muñoz finished bars with a score of 9.825. Adeline Kenlin and Marissa Rojas both posted a score of 9.775, while Masella finished in 19th posting a 9.800. Zuhlke finished bars with a score of 9.200.

Beam
The Hawkeyes finished with a 49.175 on the third event, and Kenlin finished as runner up with a score of 9.925. Henderson finished in ninth with a score a 9.875.  Zuhlke scored a 9.075, then Aubrey Nick had a score of 9.750. Alexa Ebeling continued the rotation with a 9.775, while Rojas finished in tenth place scoring a 9.850.

Floor

Iowa posted a 49.250 with four Hawkeyes scoring above a 9.800. Henderson landed a second-place finish with a score of 9.925, and Kenlin followed finishing third scoring 9.900. Bailey Libby finished in 12th place recording a 9.850, while Castillo continued with a 9.800 score. Emily Erb posted a 9.775 in her collegiate debut, and Munoz finished with a 9.650.

All Around
Henderson competed all-around, posting a second-place finish with the score of 39.500.
