PITTSBURGH – The University of Iowa women’s golf team sits in 12th following the opening round of the Big Ten Championships, which is being held at Fox Chapel Golf Club. The Hawkeyes shot a 303 on Friday.
Two Hawkeyes – freshman Riley Lewis and senior Jordan Amelon – are tied for 22nd place with four-over par 75s. Lewis tallied two birdies and one eagle during the round, while sophomore Paula Miranda had a team-best three birdies.
Illinois is leading the championships with a 286, six shots ahead of Ohio State. Three individuals lead the way after round one in Wisconsin’s Emily Lauterbach, Illinois’ Isabel Sy and Purdue’s Momo Sugiyama, who fired two-under par 69s.
