IOWA CITY, Iowa — University of Iowa women’s wrestlers Felicity Taylor and Kylie Welker will travel to Newark, New Jersey on Saturday to compete for the true third title at Final X.
Final X will be held at the Prudential Center, with doors opening at 11 a.m. (CT) with competition starting at 11:30 a.m. The event will start with the true third matches at 11:30 a.m., followed by the Final X round 1 at 1 p.m. and round 2 and 3 at 5 p.m.
The winner of their true third match will earn a place on the United States national team as the No. 3 athlete on the ladder.
Felicity Taylor will be competing at 53kg against Samara Chavez of Team Tornado WC, who was runner-up at 2023 U.S. Open Championships.
Kylie Welker will compete at 76kg, against Dymond Guilford of USOPTC/TMWC. This will be a rematch from the U.S. Open Championships in Las Vegas, where Welker lost via fall after gaining an 8-2 lead.
The tournament will be streamed live through FloWrestling.
