Iowa Slated to Play in 2023 Clean Simple Eats Gulf Coast Showcase

ESTERO, Fla. – University of Iowa women’s basketball team will compete in the 2023 Clean Simple Eats Gulf Coast Showcase on Nov. 24-26 in Estero, Florida. All of the tournament games will broadcast on FloHoops.

Hosted by bdG Sports, the Gulf Coast Showcase will feature Iowa, Delaware, Florida Gulf Coast, Kansas State, North Carolina, Purdue-Fort Wayne, Vermont, and Western Kentucky. The eight-team tournament field has six squads that competed in postseason play a year ago.

The Hawkeyes will begin tournament play on Nov. 24 at 6:30 p.m. (CT) against Purdue-Fort Wayne in Hertz Arena.

The Iowa women’s basketball team is coming off a historic season in which it won a school-record 31 games, finished NCAA national runners-up and was second in the country in attendance. Senior guard Caitlin Clark, who was the consensus National Player of the Year and Collegiate Woman of the Year, averaged 27.8 points, 8.6 assists and 7.1 rebounds per game. Seniors Gabbie Marshall and Kate Martin, and sophomore Hannah Stuelke also return for Lisa Bluder’s 24th season as Iowa’s head coach.

Game times for Saturday and Sunday will be the same with semifinal games on Nov. 25 at 4 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Sunday’s championship game will tip at 6:30 p.m.

The Clean Simple Eats Gulf Coast Showcase will continue to support the Golisano Children’s Hospital of Southwest Florida. The hospital is the only children’s hospital between Tampa and Miami and provides vital health care for the region’s sick and injured children and their families. The hospital’s facility provides 300,000 square feet of space, 128 pediatric and NICU beds, a 17-bay emergency department, a freestanding pediatric pharmacy and in-hospital school classroom.
