IOWA CITY, Iowa — The University of Iowa women’s soccer team has signed graduate transfer Maya Hansen. The Summit League standout holds program records at South Dakota State with 44 goals, 107 points and 18 game-winning goals.
Hansen was named to the preseason Mac Hermann Trophy Watch List in 2023. She registered 11 points, five goals and an assist through the four matches played last season, including the game-winner against Iowa State.
The Savage, Minnesota, native is a three-time All-Summit League First Team selection and a two-time all-region honoree.
Hansen was the 2022 Summit League Offensive Player of the Year, pacing the Jackrabbits with 27 points, 11 goals, 45 shots (.244 shooting percentage) and 21 shots on goal. Hansen led the conference in points and goals that season and was top-20 in Division I for points per game (1.59), goals per game (0.65) and game-winning goals (5).
In 2021, Hansen tallied 35 points and 14 goals, including three multi-goal games. During the season, she posted a stretch of six consecutive games scoring a goal (SDSU record) and ended the year with five straight game-winners.
Hansen has one career hat trick, scoring three goals in Spring 2020 against Kansas City. Hansen was named Summit League Freshman of the Year in 2019 when she finished second on the team in points (18) and goals (7) and tied a team-best four assists. Hansen led her team in scoring in three different seasons (2020-22).
The Hawkeyes welcome Hansen alongside a class of six student-athletes from the Class of 2028. Hansen joins the program this spring with incoming freshmen Caleigh Collard and Charlotte Bien.
