IOWA CITY, Iowa — University of Iowa National Player of the Year candidate, Caitlin Clark, earned Big Ten Player of the Week honors the conference office announced on Monday. She has earned weekly honors a conference-best, 10 times this season.
This marks Clark’s 28th weekly award from the conference, which is the most in Big Ten conference history. Former Hawkeye, Megan Gustafson, held the previous record at 23 weekly honors.
All-American Caitlin Clark recorded her 16th career triple-double finishing with 24 points, 15 rebounds, and 10 assists in Iowa’s win over Illinois. The West Des Moines, Iowa, native tallied her fifth of the season which is the best in the country.
Clark’s all-time point total is now at 3,617, and is only trailing the AIAW all-time leading scorer, Lynette Woodard (3,647) and the NCAA men’s scoring champion, Pete Maravich (3,667).
PLAYER NOTES
– Clark leads the country in 20+ point games this season with 28.
– Clark is the only player in the country with 900+ points, 225+ assists, and 175+ rebounds this season.
– Clark has scored 20+ points in 113-of-128 career games which is the most in program history.
– Clark kept her alive streak of 85 consecutive games making a 3-point basket. (NCAA best)
– Clark is the first Division-I men’s or women’s player to record 3,600+ points, 1,000+ assists, and 850+ rebounds in a career.
