Dabagia Tallies Top-5 Finish; Ties Program Record

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – University of Iowa sophomore Madison Dabagia tallied her first career top five finish on Tuesday at the Momentum Transportation UNF Collegiate at the Jacksonville Golf and Country Club.

Dabagia tied for fourth on the individual leaderboard with a 54-hole total of 209 (66-70-73), tying the school record for the second consecutive week. She fired a 209 (-7), along with junior Paula Miranda, at the Westbrook Spring Invitational last week in Peoria, Arizona.

The Indiana native sat at eight-under par (136) through 36 holes, which is the top two-round total in program history. She had 10 birdies during her first two rounds of play before carding a final round 73 (+1).

Dabagia’s first round 66 (-6) tied the program 18-hole record that was set in 2021.

As a team, Iowa finished eighth out of 19 teams, firing a three-round total of 868 (290-287-291). The 54-hole total is the third-best in program history, while the second-round 287 is tied for the 13th-best round in the record books.

Miranda had the best round of the day for the Hawkeyes, firing a two-under par 70. Sophomore Kaitlyn Hanna matched Dabagia’s one-over 73 and she was the team’s second-highest finisher in a tie for 29th place with a 218 (74-71-73).

Sam Houston State claimed the team title by five shots over UTSA, firing an 848 (-16). North Florida’s Christin Eisenbesiss and New Mexico State’s Emma Bunch were co-medalists, firing 12-under par 204s.

QUOTING COACH MENZEL

“The team is playing some solid golf. We certainly would have liked to have had a stronger finish today, but overall, we have a lot of positives to take away from this event.  It was great to see Madi put together back-to-back weeks of under par golf and up and down our lineup, we are seeing some red numbers.  This team has great momentum and we are looking forward to our next competition in New Orleans this next week.”
