IOWA CITY, Iowa — University of Iowa sophomore Sofia Bush and Millie Greer joined graduate student Macy Enneking on the Big Ten Players to Watch List, the league announced on Tuesday.
The recognition is a first for the two sophomores, while Enneking, a veteran keeper, was a preseason all-conference honoree in 2023.
Bush contributed eight points through 15 starts as a rookie last season, good for a spot on the All-Big Ten Freshman Team. The Marion, Iowa, native was voted Iowa Newcomer of the Year by the team and was ranked the No. 87 Freshman in the country by Top Drawer Soccer after the season.
Greer also made an instant impact, starting in all 22 games and playing the entirety of 17 games at the defender position. Greer is Iowa’s leading returner in minutes from last season among field players.
Voted team defensive MVP, Greer was ranked the No. 39 freshman nationally by Top Drawer Soccer after the season. The Hawkeye defense posted a program records with 13 shutouts and 0.76 goals against in 2023.
Enneking was named a United Soccer Coaches Player to Watch earlier this month. She is the first Hawkeye to earn that preseason honor.
Last season, Enneking racked up 12.5 shutouts, which ranked fifth nationally and set an Iowa single-season record. The Hilliard, Ohio, native snared 58 saves at a .744 save percentage and was credited 13 wins at .682 winning percentage in 2023.
Enneking became one of just four players in program history to earn United Soccer Coaches first-team all-region honors last season. She was also named to the All-Big Ten Tournament Team and was Big Ten Goalkeeper of the Week on Oct. 3.
As a rookie in 2020-21, Enneking was Big Ten Tournament Most Outstanding Defensive Player and unanimous Big Ten All-Freshman Team selection. Enneking started in goal for each of Iowa’s two Big Ten Tournament Championships in program history.
The Hawkeyes open the regular season against Oregon State on Aug. 15 at the Rumble in the Rockies in Missoula, Montana. Iowa opens the home slate on Aug. 29 against Florida Gulf Coast at 7 p.m. (CT).
