MEN’S BASKETBALL MEDIA NEED TO KNOW

Please take a few minutes to go over the information below in regard to Media Operations during the 2020-21 men’s basketball season. We appreciate your patience and willingness to adapt this season. We are working with all Big Ten programs to strive for consistency as much as possible.

There will be no media access to the tunnel and game floor this season. Media in need of ADA assistance should contact SID Matthew Weitzel. We apologize for the inconvenience.

CREDENTIAL LIMITATIONS

Credentials for Iowa’s home games will be significantly reduced due to social distancing precautions. Outlets that have received credentials in the past may not be provided those same credentials in 2020-21. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding.

PHOTO/VIDEO

Photo and video opportunities will be limited. There will be no floor/baseline access in 2020-21. Credentialed photo/video will be required to shoot above the railing in the seating bowl. Iowa Athletic Communications will provide approximately 20-30 action photos/video highlights on its Information Page (listed above) following each home game.

We will share additional information, including shooting locations and work stations, as the first game approaches.

COVID PROCEDURES

Members of the media are required to wear a face mask or face shield at all times while inside Carver-Hawkeye Arena. Media may enter the arena no earlier than 90 minutes prior to tipoff.

CREDENTIAL REQUESTS

Click on the link at the top of this page to apply for single-game credentials for the first four games of the season. Enter the requested information, which includes parking and credential type (media, photo, video , radio).

If you are approved for a credential and for any reason are unable to attend the game, please notify SID Matthew Weitzel as soon as possible so we can assign your seat to another media member who is able to attend.

Revisit the website each month to apply for the next batch of home games. Due to the limited number of media seats, we will be reviewing requests on a game by game basis.

CREDENTIAL PICKUP

Credentials will be mailed each month or available for pick up at the CHA Ticket Office window on game day. Photo identification will be required on day of game pickup.

MEDIA PARKING

Media parking for the 2020-21 season will be located in Lot 75 (southwest of the arena across Hawkins Drive).

ROAD GAME CREDENTIALS

Those who plan on traveling and covering an Iowa men’s basketball game on the road are asked to submit your request in an email to matthew-weitzel@uiowa.edu at least 14 days prior to the requested game. Iowa will submit a group list to the opposing SID for review and processing.

POSTGAME NEWS CONFERENCE

No media will be allowed to attend postgame news conferences in person in 2020-21. It is our intention to provide a video recording of postgame Zoom interviews with Fran McCaffery and selected Iowa players.

The visiting team’s SID will coordinate/distribute postgame Zoom information for the media. All Zoom information will be located on the Men’s Basketball Media Information Page throughout the season.

It is likely postgame interview with each team will take place simultaneously.

WEEKLY NEWS CONFERENCES

There will be no in-person media interviews during the 2020-21 basketball season. Zoom interviews with selected players will take place once/week, while head coach Fran McCaffery will be available prior to most games, depending on the layout of the game schedule.

Zoom information/links will be updated/posted on the Men’s Basketball Information page and will also be distributed via email 1-2 days prior to the scheduled availability.

PRINTED MATERIALS / STATS

Other than a gameday flipcard, game notes, programs, and halftime box scores will not be printed in 2020-21.

Live stats are available for each game at statbroadcast.com. Approximately 10-15 minutes after the game, the complete statistics packet will be distributed to each member of the working media in attendance.
