SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA – Iowa used a 35-15 scoring advantage in the second quarter to take control of the game as the Hawkeyes scored a 124-101 win over the Brisbane Capitals in the fourth game of their exhibition tour. Iowa is 3-1 on its tour, which will conclude with a Wednesday contest against the Kuiyam Pride.
Iowa led 31-22 after the first 12 minute period before establishing a 66-37 halftime advantage. The Hawkeyes enjoyed their best shooting game of the tour, hitting 57.1% from the field. Iowa held a 55-44 rebounding advantage. Iowa had six players score in double figures for the third time in four games.
Sophomore Pierre Pierce led the scoring attack with 23 points, while sophomore Jeff Horner scored 21, senior Glen Worley 19, senior Jared Reiner 17, sophomore Greg Brunner 14 and sophomore Nick DeWitz 11.
Brunner came off the bench to lead Iowa with 11 rebounds, while Reiner, Horner and senior Sean Sonderleiter each added eight rebounds. Horner led Iowa with six assists and Worley added four steals. Horner has connected on 18 consecutive free throw attempts in the four exhibition games.
