Iowa Improves To 2-1 On Australia Trip

SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA – Brody Boyd scored 22 points to lead a balanced scoring attack and Jared Reiner and Sean Sonderleiter each added a scoring and rebounding double-double as Iowa defeated the Brisbane Bullets 101-92 Sunday. Iowa improved to 2-1 on its five-game tour.

Boyd hit 6-11 three-point attempts in the game, including five in the second half and two in the final three minutes to keep Iowa in the lead. The Hawkeyes led 20-15 after one period and 47-45 at intermission. The exhibition games have all included four, 12-minute quarters, as opposed to the 40-minute college game.

While Boyd provided the scoring from the outside, Reiner and Sonderleiter combined to control the action inside. Reiner had 13 points and 13 rebounds, while Sonderleiter added 11 points and 11 rebounds as Iowa won the rebounding battle by a 57-46 margin.

Sophomore Pierre Pierce added 19 points and Nick DeWitz scored 14, while Jeff Horner and Greg Brunner each added 11. Horner added eight assists. Iowa shot an even 50 percent from the field, including 10-20 three-point attempts.

Iowa will face the Brisbane Capitals Monday and conclude the five-game tour against the Kuiyam Pride Wednesday.
