MANHATTAN, KS – The University of Iowa women’s golf team shot a 54-hole total of 966 to finish the 12-team Marilyn Smith/Sunflower Invitational in eighth place. The host school Kansas State came away with the team title after firing a score of 925.
Leading the way for the Hawkeyes, tied for sixth place, was senior Laura Holmes. Holmes fired a three-round total of 232. Junior Liz Bennett shot a 235, which was good enough to place her tied for 9th. Junior Shannon Fleming finished tied for 24th with a score of 239. Freshman Virginie Bonfils and senior Jennifer Reints posted scores of 262 and 265 respectively to place them 56th and 57th.
Winning the team title was Illinois State’s Samantha Richdale. Richdale fired a 54-hole total of 223. Coming in second was Arkansas-Little Rock’s Linda Svensson with a score of 225.
