The 2003 Iowa Hawkeyes, 5-2 overall and 1-2 in the Big Ten Conference following Saturday’s hard-fought loss at Ohio State, slipped to No. 16 in this week’s ESPN/USA Today Top 25 college football poll.

Iowa is one of seven Big Ten teams included in this week’s ESPN/USA Today Top 25.

The Hawkeyes were again one of seven Big Ten team’s included in ESPN’s elite list. Ohio State (8th), Purdue (10th), Michigan State (12th), Michigan (15th), Wisconsin (17th) and Minnesota (24th) joined Coach Kirk Ferentz’s squad. Oklahoma, Miami (Fla), and Virginia Tech remained first, second and third, respectively.

Iowa will look to rebound from its loss to the defending national champion with a victory over Penn State Saturday inside legendary Kinnick Stadium. Game time is set for shortly after 11 a.m. and a very limited number of tickets are available after they were returned to the UI Athletic Ticket Office by the PSU Athletic Department late last week.

Iowa’s game against Penn State will be televised live to a regional audience by ABC-TV. It will be the Hawkeyes third straight appearance on ABC, following their victory over Michigan and last week’s game at Columbus, OH.
