Quinn Honored By Big Ten

Nov. 3, 2003

IOWA CITY – University of Iowa soccer player Katelyn Quinn was honored today as the Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week. This is the first time Quinn has received this honor.

The sophomore from Highlands Ranch, CO, led the Hawkeyes to a 4-0 victory over Northern Iowa on Oct. 31. Quinn recorded the first hat trick of her career and tallied her first assist of the season in the win.

The hat trick was the sixth in Iowa history and the seven points in the game tied Beth Oldenburg’s school record that was set in 1997. In the game, Quinn also attempted ten shots, which is tied for the second most in a single game. She attempted 76 shots in 2003, the most ever in one season.

Quinn scored 11 goals for the second straight season. She now has 22 goals in her career, which is third most in the Iowa record books. She is tied for second in game-winning goals (7), third in shots in a career (139) and fourth in points (50) in just two years in the black and gold.

Iowa finished the season with a 4-12-2 overall record. Quinn is the first Hawkeye to be honored as a Player of the Week this season.
