IOWA CITY – University of Iowa soccer player Katelyn Quinn was selected to the all-Big Ten second team last night at the soccer banquet at the Big Ten Tournament. Quinn was a member of the all-Freshman team last season.
The sophomore from Highlands Ranch, CO, was ranked in the top seven in six offensive categories this season. Quinn ranked second in shots (76) and shots per game (4.47), fourth in points per game (1.35) and goals per game (.65), tied for fourth in goals (11) and seventh in points (23).
In the final game of the season on Oct. 31, Quinn recorded a hat trick and tallied an assist in leading the Hawkeyes to a 4-0 win over Northern Iowa.
The hat trick was the sixth in Iowa history and the seven points in the game tied Beth Oldenburg’s school record that was set in 1997. In the game, Quinn also attempted ten shots, which is tied for the second most in a single game. She attempted 76 shots in 2003, the most ever in one season.
Quinn scored 11 goals for the second straight season. She now has 22 goals in her career, which is third most in the Iowa record books. She is tied for second in game-winning goals (7), third in shots in a career (139) and fourth in points (50) in just two years in the black and gold.
Iowa finished the season with a 4-12-2 overall record.
