The Hawkeyes have started on offense 50 of its last 52 games and 52 of 58 times under Kirk Ferentz.When PK Nate Kaeding missed a 34-yard field goal (wide right) in the first period, it marked his first missed field goal this season. The 27 points scored by Purdue ties the highest total allowed by Iowa this season. Michigan scored 27 points in a 30-27 loss in Iowa City.WR Maurice Brown returned to action last week after missing five games. After having two receptions in the win over Illinois, Brown vs. Purdue had a career-high eight catches for 126 yards. He had a touchdown reception in the first half called back due to an Iowa penalty. Brown had at least 100 receiving yards for the first time this season and the sixth time in his career.Iowa failed to score in the first half for the first time in 24 games, dating back to a 17-14 loss at Iowa State on 11/24/01. Iowa trailed 14-0 at halftime in that contest. Iowa previously had scored points in every half this season and in every half of all 13 games last season.DT Jared Clauss missed his second straight game after being injured in the second half of the Penn State game, and DT Jonathan Babineaux is out for the season after being injured at Ohio State. Iowa had allowed just 14 points in the third quarter in its first nine games before Purdue scored 14 in the third quarter.QB Nathan Chandler completed 16-29 passes for 203 yards and one touchdown, and he scored on a three-yard run. Chandler has thrown at least one touchdown pass in nine of Iowa’s 10 games. His season total of 1,594 yards ranks 17th-best for a single season at Iowa.RB Fred Russell finished the game with 35 yards rushing on 18 attempts. For the season, he has rushed 235 times for 1,045 yards, becoming only the third Hawkeye running back to rush for 1,000 yards or more in more than one season. His career totals include 467 carries for 2,450 yards and 15 touchdowns. He ranks sixth in career rushing yards and his 1,045 yards this year ranks 10th-best for a single season.RB Jermelle Lewis had his best game since returning from off-season knee surgery. Lewis rushed seven times for 56 yards and had an eight-yard scoring reception.
