Iowa falls to 0-3 against Kansas State. The Hawkeyes are 0-2 against teams from the Big XII conference this year. Iowa lost at in-state rival Iowa State (101-94) in double overtime on Dec. 3. The Hawkeyes play at Big XII opponent Missouri on Dec. 30 to close out their non-conference schedule.Sophomore Tiffany Reedy started her seventh game of her career tonight, her first this season. Reedy started the first six games of her freshman season. Reedy started for the injured Johanna Solverson. The sophomore did not see action tonight due to an injured left ankle.Iowa posted season lows in points (60), rebounds (21) and free throws made (8) and attempted (10) tonight. The Hawkeyes did collect a season-high 11 steals. Senior Jennie Lillis recorded a game and season-high six steals against Kansas State. The six steals mark the first time an Iowa player has registered five or more steals in a game since Johanna Solverson collected five steals vs. Wisconsin (1/21/03).Junior Jamie Cavey scored a team-high 20 points (8-15 FG, 4-4 FT). She has scored in double figures in 7-of-8 games this year and has led the Hawkeyes in scoring five times. Furthermore, Cavey has tallied 20 points or more three times this season.Senior Jennie Lillis finished with 16 points (6-11 FG, 1-2 FT). Lillis converted a career-high 3-5 from three-point range tonight. The Urbandale, IA, native has made five three-pointers this year, matching her last year’s total. She has made 11 three-pointers in her career. Lillis also pulled down a team-high five rebounds tonight. Her five rebounds increase her career total to 794, which moves her past Lisa Becker and into eighth place on Iowa’s career rebounding chart. Lillis was 1-2 from the charity stripe tonight and has now attempted at least one free throw in 96-of-101 games in her career. She is Iowa’s school record holder for free throws attempted (466).The Hawkeyes converted 6-13 three-pointers tonight. Iowa has made at least one three-pointer in 156 consecutive games. It is a streak that has occurred over a span of seven seasons. The last time the Hawkeyes failed to make at least one triple was against Purdue in the Big Ten Tournament on March 1, 1998.Freshman Deb Remmerde saw action in her first game this season after missing Iowa’s first seven games due to injury. She played two minutes and had one foul. Remmerde suffered a stress fracture in her left foot during preseason practice.Iowa trailed by as many as 15 points in the first half. The Hawkeyes have trailed by as many as eight points in the first half in each of their last four contests.Iowa was out-scored in the paint tonight for only the second time this season. Kansas State out-scored the Hawkeyes 36-18.Iowa dropped its first Friday night game this year.
