Iowa freshman guard Mike Henderson is not eligible to compete for the Iowa men’s basketball team during the 2004 spring semester.
“Mike Henderson will not be certified for competition for the spring semester,” said Fred Mims, Associate Director of Athletics for Student Services and Compliance.
“We will work with Mike, through our Office of Student Services, in supporting his efforts to have a solid second semester academically, so that he may regain his eligibility for next season,” said Iowa Coach Steve Alford.
“We are confident that Mike will continue to mature as a college student-athlete and have a productive career at the University of Iowa.”
Henderson is allowed to continue practicing during the second semester, but he cannot compete in games nor travel with the team.
Henderson played in 10 games, averaging 3.2 points and 1.8 rebounds per outing. He is a native of Waterloo, where he helped East High School win the Class 4A state title as a senior in 2003.
