The Iowa women’s tennis team swept the Iowa State Cyclones during the first day of the Hawkeye Invitational.

Iowa won the double point, winning all three matches. The freshmen duo of Meg Racette and Hillary Mintz defeated Sabrina Evers and Evangelina Soriano, 8-3. In the next match, Chelsea Glynn and Deni Alexandrova easily won over Beth Chermel and Danielle Uscinski, 8-2. In the last doubles match, Jennifer Hodgman and Hilary Tyler beat Charlotte Ljungkrantz and Jill Palen, 8-2. The Hawkeyes not only won the doubles point, but dominated in singles play as well.

The Hawkeyes will continue the Hawkeye Invitational tomorrow against Northern Iowa beginning at 2 p.m.
