What attracted you to the University of Iowa?
“I chose the University of Iowa because I wanted to be a part of the Hawkeye tradition of success. The coaching staff, the guys on the team, and everyone associated with the athletic department make Iowa City a special place.”

What impressed you about the coaching staff?
“The coaches here at Iowa are so dedicated to helping you be the best you can be on and off the court. They are always understanding and are always there to help. We are lucky to have such a great coaching staff here at Iowa.”

Malempati recorded five singles victories during fall competition including a first-round win at the Big Ten singles tournament.

What has been your biggest transition in playing tennis at the collegiate level?
“Having to focus and play exceptionally well in order to be competitive in each match.”

What has been your favorite road trip?
“Spring break 2003 in Orlando.”

How would you describe yourself on the court? Off the court?
“On the court, I try to be focused and intense. Off the court, I’m usually laidback.”

What is the one area of your game that you would most like to improve on?
“I need to improve everything.”

If you could trade places with anyone for a day, who would it be and why?
“I’d trade places with Roger Federer because he could beat anyone in the world if he wanted to.”

What movie have you watched the most times and why?
“Gladiator because it is so motivating and inspiring.”

If you could compete against any professional player, who would it be and why?
“Anna Kournikova because she’s great at tennis.”
