This Week: The Iowa women’s tennis team travels to Minnesota this weekend. The Hawkeyes will meet the Golden Gophers Saturday and take on Montana Sunday. Both meets start at 11 a.m. at the Baseline Tennis Center.
In the Rankings: The Hawkeyes moved up to 43rd in the ITA Rankings. The rankings are voted on by every member of the ITA Regional Committee.
The Golden Gophers: The Golden Gophers are ranked 71st in the nation with a 1-4 dual meet record. They defeated Drake last weekend, while recording losses to Georgia Tech, Oregon, Boise State and Rice.
The Grizzlies: The Grizzlies begin the dual season this weekend against Minnesota. Montana has a well-balanced team consisting of one senior, three juniors, three sophomores and two freshmen.
Last Weekend: The Hawkeyes lost to No. 13 Clemson, 6-1. Hillary Mintz won at the No. 2 spot to provide Iowa with a singles point. The following day, the Hawkeyes were defeated by No. 6 Vanderbilt, 7-0.
Quoting Coach Wardlaw: “Minnesota will be an excellent test for us this early in the season. They are the reigning Big Ten regular season champions, but I am confident we’ll match up well with them. Given our current level of play, it should be a great match.”
