Austin, TX – In the second day of competition at the Longhorn Invitational, the University of Iowa women’s rowing team won two races against Kansas State, but was swept by Texas and Tulsa.
In the morning session, the Hawkeyes competed against both Texas and Tulsa. The Varsity Eight came very close to defeating Texas, falling by only two seconds. The 2V8+ timed a 7:22.8, but fell to Texas’ time of 7:16.8. Against Tulsa, the V4+ timed an 8:27.5, falling to Tulsa’s time of 8:07.6. The N8+ timed an 7:42.4, but was defeated by Tulsa’s time of 7:32.1.
In the afternoon session, the Hawkeyes rebounded by taking two of four from the Kansas State Wildcats. The V8+ posted a time of 6:54.6, beating Kansas State by nearly six seconds. The 2V8+ also dominated, timing a 7:04.1 to beat the Wildcats by over 25 seconds.
The Hawkeyes will conclude competition at the Longhorn Invitational tomorrow.
