This Week: The Iowa women’s tennis team concludes home play Saturday when it hosts the Indiana Hoosiers at 10 a.m. Weather-permitting, competition will take place outdoors at Klotz Tennis Courts. Otherwise, play will commence at the UI Recreation Building.

In the Rankings: The Hawkeyes are 37th in the latest ITA Rankings. Additionally, freshman Meg Racette is ranked 94th in singles.

The Hoosiers: The Hoosiers are ranked 30th with a 13-6 record. Indiana is 5-1 in Big Ten play, with wins over Wisconsin, Ohio State, Penn State, Michigan and Michigan State. Junior Dora Vastag is ranked 38th in singles. The duo of Martina Grimm and Sarah Batty is 44th in doubles.

Racette Named Big Ten Player of Week: Freshman Meg Racette was named Big Ten Player of the Week last week. The award came after a stellar weekend against Michigan and Michigan State. Racette went 4-0 in singles and doubles matches.

Last Weekend: The Hawkeyes lost duals to Wisconsin and Northwestern. Iowa lost to Wisconsin, 5-2, with wins from Hillary Mintz and Chelsea Glynn. The Hawkeyes were defeated by No. 9 Northwestern, 6-1. Iowa’s lone point came from Deni Alexandrova.

Quoting Coach Wardlaw: “Indiana is always a tough opponent for us and I expect another even match. We’ve had comparable results in the Big Ten, so the difference will be our home advantange. Hopefully fans will stop by on their way to the spring football game. It should be an entertaining and exciting match.”
