The Iowa women’s tennis team upset second-seeded Indiana Friday afternoon. The Hawkeyes won the doubles point and took three singles matches for the win.

In doubles, Iowa’s Meg Racette and Hillary Mintz defeated Linda Tran and Sarah Batty, 8-5, at the No. 1 spot. In No. 2 doubles, Deni Alexandrova and Anastasia Zhukova topped Dora Vastag and Laura McGaffigan, 8-5. In singles, Hilary Tyler topped Cecile Perton, 6-4, 6-4. Alexandrova won against Karie Schlukebir, 6-4, 4-6, 6-4, to secure the Hawkeye win.

Mintz defeated Linda Tran at No. 2 singles, 6-1, 6-2, to break the school record of singles wins by a freshman. Mintz now has 28 victories. The previous record was 27 by Laura Dvorak during the 1991-92 season.

The Hawkeyes will face No. 6 Ohio State tomorrow beginning at 2 p.m.
