Season tickets to the home games of the 2004 Iowa Hawkeyes have been halted and single-game tickets for Iowa’s Oct. 2 Homecoming game against Michigan State have been suspended, UI Assistant Athletic Director for Ticket Operations David Sandstrum announced today.

Sandstrum said the UI can not sell a full six-game season ticket because the Hawkeyes’ games against Iowa State on Sept. 11 and Ohio State on Oct. 16 have been officially declared sold out.

Single-game sales for Iowa’s game against Michigan State have been suspended so that the UI Athletic Ticket Office can accommodate requests for a four-game season ticket.

Sandstrum also indicated ticket sales for Iowa’s season-opening “Throwback Game” are on pace to reach sellout status and that sales for tickets to Iowa’s games against Purdue and Wisconsin are running significantly ahead of the Hawkeyes’ final two home games of the 2003 season when Iowa advanced to the 2004 Outback Bowl.

The four-game season ticket package will include a reserved seat ticket to Iowa’s “Throwback Game” on Sept. 4 against Kent State and the Hawkeyes’ games against Michigan State (Oct. 2), Purdue (Nov. 6) and Wisconsin (Nov. 20). It will cost $160 per ticket. Sales of season tickets to the six-game home schedule of Coach Kirk Ferentz’s squad are well ahead of last year in every category (general public, UI faculty and staff, and UI students). “There’s little doubt that fans of the Hawkeyes are excited and choosing to act now versus later,” said Sandstrum. “Again, it’s a reflection of the outstanding work of Kirk and his staff, and the student-athletes.” Fans interested in purchasing tickets can purchase by telephone by calling 1-800 IA-HAWKS, online at hawkeyesports.com, and in person at the UI Athletic Ticket Office in Carver-Hawkeye Arena and at the Iowa City/Coralville Convention and Visitors Bureau information kiosk inside Coral Ridge Mall.
