NOTRE DAME INVITATIONAL HISTORY — Notre Dame edged Northern Iowa by one shot to win the 2003 Notre Dame Invitational. It was the closest team finish in the four-year history of the event. Sophomore Jenna Cox (Lima, OH) transferred to the University of Iowa after playing one season at the University of Toledo. LAST YEAR — Iowa posted eight top-ten finishes in 11 tournaments. Liz Bennett recorded the team low average (77.0) during the spring. Bennett’s 2003-04 highlights include, placing 20th in the 2004 Big Ten Championships, tying for fifth in the 2003 Redbird Classic and 2003 Badger Invitational and finishing sixth in the 2004 Indiana Invitational. QUOTING COACH CARNEY — “I think we have a strong team competing this weekend. Our five players are very experienced in competitive play. We will be facing tough greens at Notre Dame’s course so we will focus on the greens this week during practice. I’m looking for a strong performance in the opening tournament of the year.”
