Dawson Named co-Big Ten Player of the Week

Park Ridge, IL – Sarah Dawson, a senior on the Iowa field hockey team, has been named co-Big Ten Player of the Week for her efforts against Ohio and New Hampshire. The announcement came from the Big Ten Office on Monday. This is the first time she has received this honor.

The Berlin, NJ native recorded a total of five goals in two games last weekend. Against Ohio, Dawson scored the first goal of the game to put the Hawkeyes in the lead, 1-0. Dawson scored at the 58:55 mark to secure a 3-1 victory. Against New Hampshire, Dawson recorder her first career hat trick and led the Hawkeyes to a 5-0 win.

Dawson was a second team all-Big Ten selection in 2003 and has 27 career goals. She and the Hawkeyes open up the 2004 Big Ten season on the road at Northwestern Friday at 3 p.m.
