IOWA CITY, IA – The Iowa women’s tennis team dominated Northern Illinois, 6-1, on the last day of the Hawkeye Invitational.
In doubles, the Hawkeyes swept the Huskies for the point. In singles, Anastasia Zhukova quickly defeated Daniela Martinez at the No. 4 spot, 6-0, 6-1. Milica Veselinovic followed suit, stopping Christy Svetlic, 6-2, 6-0. At No. 6 singles, Hilary Tyler also dominated her opponent, Megan Brooks, 6-0, 6-1. Hillary Mintz battled Cassie Drake at the No. 1 spot before emerging victorious, 6-4, 2-6, 6-4. At the No. 2 position, Meg Racette won against Ivonne Andrade, 6-2, 7-5. Morgan Tuttle fought a tough match before finally falling to Dora Delgadillo, 5-7, 7-6 (4), (10-8).
The Hawkeyes will compete next Friday, January 28 when they host Drake in Cedar Rapids.
