The Iowa women’s tennis team defeated the Drake Bulldogs, 7-0, Friday night. The Hawkeyes won every match against the Bulldogs.
Iowa received the doubles point after winning all three matches. Hillary Mintz and Meg Racette defeated Zorana Stefanovic and Allison Wilkie, 8-3, at the No. 1 position. At the No. 2 spot, Anastasia Zhukova and Jacqueline Lee won against Rebekah Thomas and Irina Kalashnikova, 8-2. Hilary Tyler and Milica Veselinovic quickly defeated Eveline Rusdianto and Cheen Alkahatib, 8-1, at the No. 3 spot.
In singles, Iowa was able to put away the Bulldogs without a third set in any match. Both Racette and Mintz defeated their opponents, 6-0, 6-2. Zhukova emerged victorious against Rusdianto, 6-3, 6-2. At the No. 4 position, Veselinovic decisively defeated Wilkie, 6-0, 6-1. Lee defeated Daria Zawislak, 6-3, 6-4. At the No. 6 spot, Tyler won a quick match against Alkahatib, 6-1, 6-0.
The Hawkeyes will compete next Sunday, January 30 when they host No. 45 Denver in Cedar Rapids.
