The University of Iowa women’s gymnastics team travels to Auburn, AL to take on Auburn and North Carolina Saturday. Competition will take place at Beard-Eaves Memorial Coliseum at 2 p.m.

The Auburn Tigers

The Tigers are ranked 22nd in the nation, including rankings of 15th on beam, 16th on floor and 21st on bars. Additionally, Julia Dwyer is ranked 16th in beam and 24th in the all-around. Auburn is coming off a quadrangular win over West Virginia, Michigan State and Kent State.

The North Carolina Tarheels

The Tarheels are 14-1-1, with wins over Maryland (twice), North Carolina State, West Virginia, Rutgers, George Washington, William and Mary (three times), Towson (twice), Pennsylvania, Temple and Cornell. North Carolina’s loss came against North Carolina State whom they also tied.

North Carolina is ranked 14th in the nation on vault and 22nd on floor. Top Tarheels include Courtney Bumpers, Christina Robella and Olivia Trusty.

Hawkeyes Topping Season Records

Iowa has broken four of five individual season-bests in the past two weeks. Romina Mazzoni had a season-high (9.85) on bars against Michigan last weekened, while Kortny Williamson tied the season-high (9.9) on vault. At Minnesota, Liz Grajewski scored a 39.075 in the all-around. Grajewski also scored a 9.85, along with Williamson, on floor.

The GymHawks also recorded three season-best team scores at Minnesota. Iowa had a 48.95 on beam, 49.0 on floor and a 195.425 team total.

In the Rankings

Iowa is ranked 22nd on bars and 23rd on beam. This is the first time this season the GymHawks have been ranked in at least two events.

Top Performances Last Weekend

Versus Michigan, junior Kortny Williamson tied a season-high 9.9 on vault to tie for second. Williamson also tied for fourth with Katie Burke on beam (9.825). Romina Mazzoni scored a career-best 9.85 on bars to tie for fifth. On floor, senior Mindi Levitz had a career-high 9.825 to tie for seventh.
