The 60th-ranked University of Iowa women’s tennis team (6-3) travels to Abilene Christian Sunday. Competition will take place at the Eager Tennis Pavilion at 2 p.m.
The Abilene Christian Wildcats
The Wildcats are ranked 11th in Division II with a 17-1 record. Abilene Christian’s lone loss came against Arkansas. In singles, Summer Beesley is ranked 21st, Rachel Taylor 37th and Holly Lindloff 48th. Abilene Christian is on a 13-meet win streak, and hasn’t lost at home this season.
Zhukova on a Roll
Sophomore Anastasia Zhukova has been a strong player for the Hawkeyes this season. Zhukova is 8-1 (.889) in dual matches with her only loss coming against Christian Thompson of Notre Dame. Zhukova has won 126 games to her opponents’ 56.
Last Weekend Notes
Iowa went 2-0 last weekend. The Hawkeyes defeated No. 69 Minnesota, 5-2. Iowa swept the doubles matches and won four singles matches. Iowa’s Meg Racette upset 74th-ranked Nischela Reddy in straight sets, 6-2, 6-4. The Hawkeyes dominated Kansas, 7-0, winning every match.
Hawkeyes In the Rankings
In the ITA poll, the Hawkeyes are ranked 60th nationally. Hillary Mintz is ranked 91st.
Coming Up
The Hawkeyes are at Baylor March 16th and Texas Christian March 18.
