IOWA CITY, IA – The University of Iowa men’s basketball team has been selected to the 2005 NCAA Tournament. The Hawkeyes were selected as a 10 seed in the Austin bracket and will face seventh-seeded Cincinnati in Indianapolis, IN, on Thursday, March 17. Game time and television information will be announced Monday, March 14.

Iowa is participating in the NCAA Tournament for the 21st time, returning for the first time since 2001. Iowa, as a seven seed, advanced to the second round before losing to Kentucky. The Hawkeyes hold an overall record of 27-22 in the tournament, advancing to the Final Four in 1955 (fourth), 1956 (second) and 1980 (fourth).

Iowa holds a 21-11 overall record after advancing to the semifinals of the Big Ten Conference Tournament. Iowa posted its fifth consecutive winning season and earned its fifth straight post-season invitation.
