BLOOMINGTON, IN – The University of Iowa Women’s Golf Team is in 11th place after the first round of the Indiana Invitational held today on the par-72 (6,142 yards) Indiana University Golf Course. The Hawkeyes fired a first round total of 333. Notre Dame (312) leads the tournament by five strokes over Grand Valley State (317).
Iowa’s senior Liz Bennett and sophomore Karla Murra are tied for 20th place after both carded rounds of 81 today. Freshmen Jill Marcum and Maggie Gelber both stroked rounds of 84 and are tied for 45th place. Notre Dame’s Noriko Nakazaki fired a one-under par (71) and leads the tournament by three stokes over Toledo’s Natalie Storck (74).
Due to inclement weather the 54-hole tournament has been shortened to 36 holes. The final 18 holes will be played tomorrow on the Indiana Golf Course.
