The 49th-ranked University of Iowa women’s tennis team (10-7 overall, 4-2 Big Ten) closes its home season this weekend, hosting Penn State Friday at 2 p.m. and Indiana Sunday at 10 a.m. Friday’s competition will take place at City Park in Iowa City, while Sunday’s match vs. the Hoosiers will be at the Clark Racquet Center on the campus of Coe College in Cedar Rapids. Admission is free to both events.

The Penn State Nittany Lions
The Nittany Lions are 6-9 overall, 1-5 in the Big Ten. Penn State has wins over Ohio State, Kansas, Marshall, Temple, Lehigh and American University. Maaria Husain and Sarah Spence are the top athletes for Penn State.

The Indiana Hoosiers
The Hoosiers are ranked 37th with an 11-9 overall, 5-1 Big Ten record. Indiana has Big Ten victories over Purdue, Penn State, Illinois, Ohio State and Wisconsin, with a loss against Northwestern. Dora Vastag is ranked 101st with a 17-16 record.

Have We Met Before?
Milica Veselinovic and Anastasia Zhukova both met Indiana players at the Hoosier Classic during the fall season. Veselinovic defeated Cecile Perton and Dominika Walterova, while Zhukova lost to Laura McGaffigan.

Tyler and Zhukova Double Trouble
Hilary Tyler and Anastasia Zhukova are 12-1 in doubles. They have 11 wins at the No. 2 spot, including victories over Notre Dame, Baylor, Michigan, Minnesota and Wisconsin.

Last Weekend Notes
The Hawkeyes split a pair of meets last weekend. Iowa fell to No. 2 Northwestern, 7-0, before upsetting 33rd-ranked Wisconsin, 4-3. Iowa swept the doubles point and had singles victories from Anastasia Zhukova, Milica Veselinovic and Jacqueline Lee.

Three Hawks Top 10 Dual Wins
Three Hawkeyes have recorded 10 or more dual singles wins this season. Jacqueline Lee earned her 10th victory against Wisconsin last weekend. Lee is now 10-5 at the No. 5 and 6 spots. Milica Veselinovic and Anastasia Zhukova both have an 11-4 record, mainly playing at the No. 4 and 3 spots, respectively.

In the ITA poll, the Hawkeyes are ranked 49th nationally.
