Iowa Rowing Competes in Tennessee Meet

Today, the University of Iowa women’s rowing team finished competition in the Aramark Sprints hosted by the University of Tennessee.

In the First Varsity 8 (Heat B) of the final round that was held this morning, Iowa finished in second with a time of 6:36.50; Minnesota won the heat with a time of 6:33.10.

On Saturday, the Hawks placed first in their heat of the Open 4 with a time of 7:36.20 just ahead of second place Texas who finished in 7:38.15. In First Novice 8-Heat A, Iowa came in third with a time of 7:15.12. They also came in third in the First Varsity 8 with a time of 6:48.99, which advanced them to the A/B section of the semifinals. In their semi-final section, the Hawks came in fifth with a time of 6:46.77 while overall meet champion Virginia won the race by finishing in 6:31.20.

In the semi-final of the First Novice 8, the Hawkeyes came in second to Clemson with a time of 7:17.60 and in the final round finished in 7:12.47, which was good enough for fifth place. In the Second Novice 8, Ohio State won in 7:38.90 and Iowa finished in seventh place (7:54.33).
