More Black and Gold, Less Green

Sept. 1, 2005

Fans of the University of Iowa men’s basketball team will have an opportunity to see more black and gold in Carver-Hawkeye Arena this coming college basketball season and pay less to be a part of the action.

Coach Steve Alford’s Iowa Hawkeyes – fresh of their appearance in last year’s NCAA Tournament – will play 19 home games in 2005-06, a schedule that includes dates with Big Ten Conference rivals Illinois, Wisconsin, Michigan State and Indiana in addition to non-conference games against intrastate rival Drake, Arizona State and North Carolina State.

Season tickets for the general public are priced at $387 each — $21 less than a year ago when the Hawkeyes played one fewer home game. A season ticket for current members of the UI faculty and staff is priced at $313 — $27 less than a year ago. Current UI students will pay only $5 per game or $95 for the full season. UI students paid $204 for a season ticket to the home games of the 2004-05 Hawkeyes.

Fans of the Hawkeyes who elect not to purchase a season ticket will have the option of purchasing an eight-game ($184 each) or a four-game package ($100 each) of games. In each case, the fan will pick the games they want to attend from a collection of conference and non-conference games pre-determined by the UI.

If available, tickets will be priced at $25 on a single-game basis. Also, if tickets are available, UI students will be able to purchase tickets on a single-game basis for just $15 per game. Last year’s single-game ticket price for the general public and UI students was $26.

Fans of the Hawkeyes can purchase their season tickets, ticket packages, and single-game tickets online at hawkeyesports.com, over the phone by calling 1-800 IA-HAWKS, or in-person at the UI Athletic Ticket Office in Carver-Hawkeye Arena or the Iowa City/Coralville Convention and Visitors Bureau information desk inside Coral Ridge Mall.
