IOWA CITY – Iowa linebacker Chad Greenway has been chosen Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week for his outstanding play against Northern Iowa last week. The Hawkeyes beat the Panthers 45-21 in Iowa City.
Greenway, a senior from Mt. Vernon, S.D., collected a career high 20 tackles, including 12 solo stops. He also had one tackle for loss (three yards) and a pass breakup. It was the 17th time in his career he has posted double-digit tackles. His previous single game high was 17 tackles against Iowa State in 2003.
This marks the third time he has earned Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week honors. He won the award following Iowa wins over Arizona State in 2003 and Kent State last year.
