Hardee's Star: Jason Manson

This week’s Hardee’s Star Athlete of the Week is Jason Manson, a quarterback on the University of Iowa’s football team..

A junior from Bloomfield, Ct.,, Manson is listed as the second team quarterback. He saw action in Iowa’s game versus Iowa State on Sept. 10. Last season, Mason saw the playing field in the Hawkeyes’ victories over Michigan State and Ohio State.

In 2003, Manson was one of two red-shirt freshmen selected to the team Leadership Council. He was selected to that post again as one of two sophomores to serve on the Council, and again this year as one of three juniors to serve.

He also represents the team on the Iowa Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, a group of student-athletes from each of the UI’s varsity sports programs to help shape departmental policies and procedures and to initiate department-wide outreach programs. He is majoring in communication studies.

“Jason is an excellent leader on our football team,” said UI football coach Kirk Ferentz. “He is also a very smart football player. He keeps working, looking to improve and makes others around him better.

“He is an outstanding young man. He has a great attitude and is always very positive. He is just a tremendous leader and works extremely hard. He is an excellent choice for the Hardee’s Star honor.”
