Iowa Loses By One Stroke At Big Four

CEDAR RAPIDS, IA — The Iowa Men’s Golf team finished the 2005 Big Four Championship in second place. They finished the first round with a team score of 291 which put them five strokes ahead of the second place Drake Bulldogs. However, in the second and final round they carded a team score of 289 which was six more than Drake causing them to lose by just one stroke to the defending champions. During the two rounds at the par 70 Elmcrest Country Club Iowa shot +20 as a team and carding a two round score of 580.

One stroke was the difference for both team and individual champions. Senior Andy Tiedt (+3, 3rd) led Iowa individually with a third place finished one stroke behind the leader just like the team. Todd Larson (+4, 4th) and Jon Feldick (+4, 4th) both tied for fourth place finishing two shots behind first place. Cole Peevler (+9, 8th), Brian deBuhr (+18, 20th) and Luke Miller (+21, 21st) also competed for the Hawkeyes. This was the last fall tournament for the Hawkeyes. Iowa will not compete until the spring season.
