Women's Hoops Picked Fifth in Big Ten

PARK RIDGE, IL – The Iowa Women’s Basketball team has been picked to finish fifth in the league by both the Big Ten coaches and media. The announcement came today at Big Ten Basketball Media Day in Chicago.

The conference coaches selected Ohio State to finish first, followed by Michigan State, Minnesota, Purdue, Iowa, Wisconsin, Penn State, Indiana, Illinois, Michigan and Northwestern. The league media also picked Ohio State to win the Big Ten regular season championship, followed by Michigan State, Purdue, Minnesota, Iowa, Penn State, Wisconsin, Indiana, Illinois, Michigan and Northwestern.

Iowa finished sixth in the Big Ten last season with an 8-8 record. The 2005-06 Hawkeyes return eight letterwinners, including two starters and also add five talented freshmen.

Iowa hosts Wisconsin AAU in its first exhibition game Sunday, November 6, at 2:05 p.m. in Carver-Hawkeye Arena.
