COLUMBUS, OH – The University of Iowa men and women’s swimming team competed at day two of the Ohio State Invitational Saturday. After 12 events the women are seventh with 171 points, while the men are sixth with 111 points.
On day two the women were led by senior Kelly Werner, who finished third in the 100 backstroke (57.22) and eighth in the 100 butterfly (57.08). Senior diver Nancilea Underwood came in fourth in the 1-meter at 284.20. The 200 medley relay team of Werner, Emmy Haeger, Mindy Schulte and Katie Martin came in seventh at 1:46.40. Junior Emmy Haeger finished seventh in the 100 breaststroke (1:05.53). The 800 freestyle relay team of Karen Kelly, Katie Martin, Emily Hoefler and Erica Noah placed 11th with 7:46.53.
The men were led by senior Trevor Haley with a sixth place finish in the 400 individual medley (4:04.79). Junior Paul Divan placed 12th in the 100 breaststroke with a 57.56. The 800 freestyle relay team of Nick Divan, Cameron Dye, Trevor Haley and Seth Tweedy came in eighth in a time of 7:02.96.
The Hawkeyes will continue competing tomorrow at the McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion. Swimming preliminaries will take place at 10 a.m. with finals at 3 p.m. and diving prelims and finals will take place at noon. Fans can follow the action live at www.ohiostatebuckeyes.com.
