Hawkeyes Earn Weekly Honors

Two members of University of Iowa swimming and diving team earned Big Ten weekly honors. Kelly Werner was named Big Ten Co-Swimmer of The Week and Nancilea Underwood was named Big Ten Diver of The Week.

Werner, a senior from St. Louis, Mo., earned the first Big Ten weekly honor of her career by winning the 100 (57.01) and 200 backstroke (2:04.76), along with the 100 butterfly (57.12) at Iowa State. This is the third time this season that Werner has swept these three events. She has 11 individual victories on the year. She shares the award with Rachael Hagerman of Michigan State.

Underwood, a senior from Spring, Texas earns her fifth career weekly honor and third of the season by sweeping the one-meter (291.37) and three-meter (338.47) diving events against Iowa State. This is the third time this season she has swept both events and has won seven of ten events this season.

Next up for the Hawkeyes will be a winter training trip to Hawaii January 2-12. The women will host Missouri at the Fieldhouse Pool on January 21.
